Together we are Stronger - a personal note
Together we are stronger.
This is a message that we have been hearing a lot recently and it can translate to a few things; Getting through a pandemic, dealing with hard life stuff with your loved one, even just getting through a boring event with your bestie. However, it is especially relevant when dealing with cancer.
Yes, October is Breast Cancer awareness month, and I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the struggle that each of you go through. Whether you have been diagnosed yourself, or you know someone who has.
To be honest I spent quite a bit of time trying to come up with the perfect post, and I searched for the perfect organization to highlight, and then I realized, wait a minute – nothing is perfect about dealing with cancer. It is hard, ugly, trying, scary and many more things, so why not focus on each other and our tribe.
So, I decided instead to just write my thoughts in hope that at the very least one person reads this and is inspired to do something thoughtful and be a little kinder and softer to others dealing with this struggle.
If you know someone take a moment to be mindful, give a little extra love, because what do you have to lose. We all know that we need to examine ourselves, we know that we need to go for our mammograms. But what we may not all know is how lonely someone can feel, battling cancer, or how lonely their loved ones can feel through the process as well.
I am no stranger to this as my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer (she has been in remission for over 15years) when I was in my teens, and I watched her struggle, I watched my family struggle and I struggled. Which is why I would encourage you to think of what you can do to help and to be selfless in those thoughts, because that one action towards someone who is having a wretched day, can make the world of a difference.
Ocean Curve believes in and supports, a healthy balanced lifestyle, we encourage and believe in the utmost of self-care, we believe in feeling good and most of all we believe that together we are stronger. We preach it and we practice it in our personal and working relationships and so perhaps that is why I was led to write something a bit more personal today. I would like to thank Marc, the other half Ocean Curve and my amazing friend and business partner, for completely supporting this and for practicing it daily too.
I hope that every one of you has your tribe, when you are going through your toughest moments. If in any moment you feel as though you don’t have a tribe, reach out to us a message. We’d be here for you. That’s our promise.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Have an amazing Self Love Sunday. – Jess
